Prayer

Prayer is a foundational ministry in Unity.  Jesus Christ said, “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24)

Affirmative Prayer

In faith, we pray affirmatively, giving thanks in advance and expecting positive outcomes for our highest good.  Affirmative prayer is effective because Unity believes that God is Good and we are inherently good, not sinful or broken.  Therefore, our prayers are not of the begging or supplicating nature.  We are expressions of God made manifest, co-creators with the Divine to bring forth our Divine potential.  The affirmative prayer method naturally approaches prayer as a communion with the Divine in seeking awareness of our wholeness and receiving and expressing God’s love.

Weekly In-Person Prayer Service

You are also invited to participate in a weekly in-person Silent Unity prayer service in our beautiful sanctuary.  Every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. people gather to participate in a Unity guided prayer service.  It is a wonderful way to refresh your spirit during the week.

Prayer Chaplains

Prayer Chaplains are volunteers from our church who bless our community by offering one-on-one prayer with you.  Prayer Chaplains hold spiritual space, lovingly listen, pray from the heart, and hold in confidence what is shared.

Prayer Chaplains are required to complete an extensive training program in order to help you with your need.  They are available after Sunday service to pray with you one-on-one with whatever need you may have.  Prayer Chaplains also make phone calls to those who request monthly prayer support over the phone.  All prayers are kept in the strictest of confidence.

Congregants who choose to become Prayer Chaplains do so because they have a desire to deepen their own spirituality and connection with God, experience their own personal and spiritual transformation, and learn how to stand in prayerful support of our spiritual community.  It is a life-changing experience to serve as a Prayer Chaplain.

Receiving prayer from a Prayer Chaplain is a lovely experience—we invite you to receive this blessing into your life.

Silent Unity Prayer Support

Both Myrtle and Charles Fillmore were healed from physical conditions in the 1880s through the affirmative prayer technique.  After that, the Fillmores organized the Unity Prayer Ministry (Silent Unity), a prayer support service for others in need.

Silent Unity has grown extensively over the past 130 years, and millions of prayer requests come in from around the world, from people of all faiths.  All prayers are held in  strict confidence.  There is never a charge for prayer.
